Overview
DOMESTICA SELVATICA is a project by Nazzarena Poli Maramotti, presented by ChorAsis in the exhibition spaces of Villa Rospigliosi and curated by Silvia Bottani. The exhibition Domestica Selvatica opens a reflection on the themes of the domestic space of Villa Rospigliosi—a noble residence which, through its cultural stratification and openness to art, disrupts the traditional boundaries of the home to transcend its predetermined dimension.
The relationship between the house and the land/territory that surrounds it is characterized by a certain permeability—an openness to otherness that is reflected in the canvases inspired by hunting scenes created by Poli Maramotti, and more subtly, in her ceramic and sculptural work.
For the exhibition, site-specific works were created and installed in the spaces of the limonaia, large outbuildings adjacent to the main body of the house, originally intended as shelters for citrus plants. This liminal space, connecting the “inside” of the house with the “outside” of the garden, becomes a setting where the dialogue between sculptural elements, painted plates, and canvases can take shape.
The exhibition is part of a series of shows organized by ChorAsis dedicated to contemporary Italian art, reaffirming the association’s commitment to promoting artistic practices that focus on the creative process and a dialogue with Villa Rospigliosi and its history.
