Andreas Zampella: in collaboration with Nashira Gallery
z2o Project, in its spaces in Via Baccio Pontelli 16, is glad to host Nashira gallery with the solo exhibition of Andreas Zampella, open from 26 January to 24 February 2024.
The space presents a selection of my latest works, paintings of different sizes, a wall drawing and an environmental sculpture. Technically all the works are made with an organic base combined with a synthetic like clay and glue or silicone and flour; in some of them the process is unstable and visible.
Legs running, fire burning, laces intertwining, lemons walking. All the images tell of movement and stasis, of collectivity and loneliness, of the desire to escape, of the impossibility of moving. These are in connection with "Hearts in Atlantis", an article by Giovanna Ferrara (journalist for the manifesto) published in "OperaViva Magazine" in 2022. The text recalls the years between '92 and '96 and how the generation that lived them, that of my parents, the last thirty years without technology, felt part of a movement bigger than a change still analog.
Legs on fire because the present, the instant, is more important than the future, legs still because you don’t know where to go, what to do; we are like lemons, acids, acres, walking, aging, rotting motionless, without batting an eye, and yet we are children of the sun.
This exhibition is about moments of life, speed, stillness, the desire to dance, boredom, despair and death. Explore it and make it your own, you can become fire or lemon, you can set everything on fire or get moldy walking.
Andreas Zampella
The text you have read wants to be a premise of an article written by several hands that takes shape in the magazine "OperaViva Magazine" as a reasoning on the generational passage observed in the text "hearts in Atlantis" by Giovanna Ferrara (1978-2023)to whom I dedicate this exhibition.

BIO: Originally from Salerno and trained in Naples with studies in Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, Andreas Zampella has been living in Milan for five years, in addition to numerous residences in Italy, including bocs Art in Cosenza and Dolomiti Contemporanee, His most recent exhibition curriculum includes the solo exhibition Piano d'ascolto at the Andrea Festa gallery in Rome (2022), the talk Passaggio al buio within the Portfolio cycle of the Quadriennale di Roma at Palazzo Braschi (2023) and the solo exhibition at the Nashira Gallery in Milan (2023).
All the elements of Andreas' work are composed as in a theatrical play: the picture is the scenography of actions and non-actions, metaphor of those who observe them; the tools and sculptures the props, whose meaning changes, is discovered in space, all things live a condition of continuous action, like abscesses of performative art.
With these guidelines, his work investigates the relationship between reality and representation in society, admitting the failure of communication in contemporaneity. As thresholds or semi-open exits, his works oscillate in conditions bordering on fatigue and anxiety, lament and accusation, obligation and boredom, individual and collectivity, and they do so in an indolent, hypocritical way, in the full paradox of reality.
