We are pleased to announce DOMESTICA SELVATICA, the latest project by Nazzarena Poli Maramotti, presented by ChorAsis within the exhibition spaces of Villa Rospigliosi and curated by Silvia Bottani, opening on 11th May from 10 am to 7 pm and on view from 11th May until 8th June in Via Firenze 83, Prato.
The project opens a reflection on the themes of the domestic space of Villa Rospigliosi, an aristocratic residence whose cultural layers and openness to art disrupt the boundaries of the home, transcending its preordained dimension.
The relationship between the house and the surrounding land/territory is marked by a certain permeability—an openness to otherness—which resonates in Poli Maramotti’s paintings inspired by hunting scenes, and, more subtly, in her ceramic and sculptural works.
For the occasion, site-specific works were created and installed in the spaces of the limonaia—large outbuildings adjacent to the villa’s main body, originally designed to house citrus plants. This liminal space, connecting the “interior” of the home with the “exterior” of the garden, becomes a site where a dialogue between sculptural elements, plates, and painted canvases can take form.
The exhibition project is part of a series of shows that ChorAsis dedicates to contemporary Italian art, reaffirming the association’s commitment to promoting artistic practices centered on the creative process and on dialogue with Villa Rospigliosi and its history.
