z2o Sara Zanin is pleased to announce Aqua Filo Mano Luce, a group exhibition featuring works by Beatrice Pediconi, curated by Christine Xuereb, at Galleria Quam, Scicli, Italy.
"On the occasion of Women’s Month, Aqua Filo Mano Luce brings together four artists whose practices explore fragility, transformation, and vision. The exhibition does not focus on gender as a literal theme. Instead, it highlights ways of working that value sensitivity, process, material awareness, and alternative forms of knowledge, qualities that have often been overlooked in more traditional art history.
Women’s Month is not only a time for celebration, but also for reflection. It invites us to reconsider which voices, materials, and methods have historically been marginalized. In this exhibition, fragility is not seen as weakness. It is understood as openness, a condition that allows for change, movement, and renewal.
Although the four artists work with different media, primarily photography, textiles, classical and contemporary painting, they share an interest in instability and transformation. Their works do not propose fixed messages. Rather, they create spaces in which images shift, surfaces evolve, and perception becomes active."
Christine Xuereb
Beatrice Pediconi works at the intersection of photography, drawing, and painting. She uses old Polaroid emulsions, which she separates from their original support and transfers with water onto paper or canvas. In this way, she transforms photography from a stable image into something fluid and delicate.
Water plays an important role in her process. It allows the image to move, dissolve, and reform. The final works often suggest organic forms, such as flowers or wings, but never fully define them. The images appear as traces, something between presence and absence. Her work speaks of time, memory, and renewal. By destabilizing the photographic image, she reminds us that memory itself is fragile and constantly changing.
Fragility and vulnerability become a space for new beginnings rather than loss.
