Federico Fusj (Siena, 1967) lives and works in Siena.
He graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. In 1990 he was selected for the exhibition Italia ’90, organized by the international magazine Flash Art with the aim of outlining a possible future scenario for Italian art.
In 1994 he completed his first professional artist residency in New York, where his work was noticed by the international curator Jan Hoet, who in 1995 invited him to participate in the exhibition Ripple Across the Water, organized by the Watarium Museum in Tokyo.
In 2000 he took part in the Bienal de La Habana, while in 2001 he was among the artists invited to the exhibition Sonsbeek 9 in Arnhem, Netherlands, curated by Jan Hoet, Philippe Van Cauteren, and Dieter Roelstraete.
In 2004 he was invited by art critic Achille Bonito Oliva to take part in a series of international exhibitions held at the historic Certosa di Padula.
Fusj’s research has always been oriented toward a constant dialogue between different media, which is why his work is internationally recognized also in the field of radio and sound art.
Since 2001 he has taught university courses, advanced artistic training, and masterclasses. He is currently a professor of Sculpture Techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts in L’Aquila.
