Josefina Ayllón (La Plata, 1973) is an Italian-Argentinian artist.
In her artworks she explores, mainly through the portrait, the possibilities of painting, deliberately moving away from academicism and prioritising the colour and materiality of the paint.
After graduating with a degree in Audiovisual Design from the University of Buenos Aires, she turned her focus to writing. Her play “Fronterizos” has been performed in theatres across multiple countries. In 2002, she relocated to Paris, where she began working as a self-taught painter, embarking on a new chapter in her artistic journey. She has exhibited internationally in solo and group shows.
She currently lives and works in Rome, Italy.
