Mariella Bettineschi - Triennale Milano

Presentation of the catalog "The Next Era / L'Era Successiva"
The monograph The Next Era (Electa, 2019) presents a series of works conceived by Mariella Bettineschi in 2008 and still a work in progress today: images of Nature, Libraries, Portraits, digitally processed by the artist, become the signal of a dramatic change that it is happening in the environment, culture and condition of women.
The Portraits (great icons of European art, works by artists such as Caravaggio, Raphael, Leonardo, Titian) are removed from their time and brought into the contemporary world through the choice of a detail, the cancellation of the background, the cutting and doubling of the eyes. These women, objects of the gaze of the painters who painted them, through a feminist gesture, are returned to their condition of subjects.
During the presentation the artist will be in dialogue with Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, art critic; Damiano Gullì, curator for Contemporary Art and Public program of Triennale Milano; Francesca Pasini, art critic; Sara Zanin, z2o Gallery, Rome.

Mariella Bettineschi (Brescia, 1948) is an artist who stands out on the international scene for her continuous search for feminine languages capable of narrating, through painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, photography, digital painting, the centrality of women and their infinite ability to bring the world into the world. The participation in the XLIII Venice Biennale in 1988 curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, the transfer in 1989 to Berlin - the city where the artist will reside until 1995, up to the success of the Dior cruise in 2022 with the presentation of an immersive installation from The Next Era, are just some of the salient stages of a long artistic journey.
