Alfredo Pirri (Cosenza, 1957) lives and works in Rome.

He first moved to Florence and then to Rome to attend the Academy of Fine Arts where he graduated in painting.

His work began to come to the attention of the public in the mid-eighties and from that moment his production remained intense until today.

The most important characteristic of his style is his deep interest in spaces and architecture, which determines the creation of enveloping and sometimes surreal atmospheres.

His works have been exhibited in solo and group shows all over the world: the Venice Biennale, PS1 New York, the Havana Biennale, Palazzo delle Papesse Siena, Walter Gropius Bau in Berlin, Villa Medici in Rome, Contemporary Art Museum in Rjieka, Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris. One of his last solo exhibition, "Di luce e di fango" was hosted in 2022 in the Roman Gallery Z2o Sara Zanin.

In 2023 he achieved an Honoris Causa Degree, obtained by the University of Roma Tre, Rome.
